National Degrees Through PPA

M.Photog. - Master of Photography
Master of Photography requires the accumulation of 25 PPA Merits. Of these, at least 13 must be from print merits, merits awarded by scoring 80 or above at any PPA or PPA affiliated print competition. Merit scores at Kerrville do not count.
The remaining 12 merits can be any merits awarded by attending photography schools, conventions, ect.
Candidates must have obtained the CPP or Certified Professional Photographer status first. See CPP below.

Cr.Photog. - Photographic Craftsman
Photographic Craftsman Degree requires the accumulation of 25 PPA Merits. Of these, at least 13 must be awarded by speaking at PPA affiliated photography guilds, conventions or Super Monday seminars. The remaining 12 merits can be any merits awarded by attending photography schools, conventions, ect.
They can even be print merits.

MEI - Master of Electronic Imaging
Master of Electronic Imaging requires the accumulation of 25 PPA Merits. Of these, at least 13 must be from print merits, merits awarded by scoring 80 or above at any PPA or PPA affiliated print competition in the digital catagory. These prints must have been created digitally, or manipulated digitally. Merit scores at Kerrville do not count. The remaining 12 merits can be any merits awarded by attending photography schools, conventions, ect.  Candidates must be certified as an electronic imager to be eligible for the MEI. See CEI below.

MA - Master Artist
Candidates must be certified as a photographic specialist to be eligible for the MA. More details coming soon.

Hon.M.Photog. - Honorary Master of Photography
Usually awarded to a photographer who has dedicated his life to the photography profession in some manner. Most resembles a "lifetime achievement award".

CPP - Certified Professional Photographer
The CPP designates photographers who have passed PPA's certification process, including a 10 section written test, and a 20 image submission.
The tests judge the photographers knowledge of all aspects of photography, including color wheels, exposure, large format camera operation, as well as the business of professional photography.
Candidates must pass with a 70% or higher score on the written test, and all images submitted must pass review by PPA.

CEI - Certified Electronic Imager



Texas Degrees Through TPPA

AF- Associate Fellowship Degree
The Associate Fellowship is awarded to any photographer in good standing with TPPA that accumulates 50 points in the TPPA degree program point system.
Points are awarded for volunteering with print competitions, scoring 80 or above at Kerrville, paying dues on time, attending the Texas School of Professional Photography at Texas A&M, attending state or regional conventions, ect.

F- Fellowship Degree
The full Fellowship Degree mirrors the AF, but candidates must accumulate 100 points in the degree points program. 10 of the 100 points
must be a result of a merit-level scores at the Kerrville print competition. One point is awarded for each print scoring 80 or above.

AF- Associate Fellowship Degree
The Associate Fellowship is awarded to any photographer in good standing with SPPPA that accumulates 50 points in the SPPPA degree program point system.
